Eight children were injured on Thursday after a bakkie collided into the side of a light motor vehicle in Fairways in Cape Town.
ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics found both vehicles on the side of the road.
As many as 15 children had been riding on the back of the bakkie when it crashed. They had sought refuge at a nearby house, Meiring said.
He said paramedics assessed the children and found that eight had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate.
“The children were treated for their injuries and thereafter transported to Retreat Day Hospital.”
The cause of the collision was being investigated by local authorities.
