Police are on the hunt for suspects who shot an alleged gangster in his buttocks.
Residents of Sky Road in Bishop Lavis say they are living in fear after the gun attack on Monday night which left two men, aged 23 and 24, injured.
The unknown gunman ran to the back of a house in Sky Road, opening fire on a group of people who were sitting in the yard.
A shocked resident, who didn’t want to be identified, explains: “It was 10.40pm and I was getting ready for bed, when I heard six shots go off close to my house.
“I told everyone to switch off the lights and get down for cover.”
Residents say rival gangs regularly shoot at one another in Sky Road and Bird Crescent because of a turf war.
The woman adds: “We can’t live like this, I have to lock my door during the day because I am scared gang members will run into my house. I don’t even feel safe inside my own house.”
Police spokesperson, Captain FC van Wyk, confirmed the incident and says one of the victims was shot in the leg.
“The second victim sustained a gunshot wound to his right buttock," he says.
“An attempted murder case was opened for investigation.”
Meanwhile, in a separate shooting incident, a 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Belhar.
The unknown man was gunned down in the doorway of a house in Anreith Avenue just before 9pm on Tuesday.
Van Wyk said circumstances surrounding the incident is being investigated and arrests are yet to be made.
