A 31-year-old suspect will make a first appearance in the George Magistrate’s court on Monday in connection with the murder of an elderly woman.

The body of Isabella Christina Kruger, 77, of Kraaibosch Estate in George, was discovered in her bathtub by her daughter on Saturday.

According to police, at the time Kruger was staying alone at home while her husband was receiving medical treatment at a private clinic near the estate.

Police spokesperson, Captain Malcolm Poje said that police made two arrests within five hours of the discovery of Kruger’s body.

Pojie said that the second suspect, a 28-year-old man, was released from custody as there was not enough evidence to link him directly to the crime.

An autopsy is yet to be conducted to determine the exact cause of Kruger’s death.
