Flats' road of terror

In the early hours of yesterday morning, a man was gunned down while sitting on a street corner with his friend.

A 36-year-old man was killed after being shot in the chest four times. His friend was also shot and wounded in the incident, but managed to flee the scene.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana confirmed the shooting incident.

Rwexana said: “Cases of murder and attempted murder are under investigation.

“According to information, a shooting incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning at 02:00 at Sonderend Road in Manenberg. A 36-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded while an unidentified man was shot and wounded. No one has been arrested at this stage.”

Scared residents ran for cover as the shootings continued yesterday afternoon. No injuries were reported.
