Three cops and a security guard were injured after a shoot-out with the gang.

Cops nabbed four suspects who were hiding on the scene while three escaped.

One firearm was confiscated.

According to the store manager, who didn’t want to be named, the robbers arrived shortly after midnight at 12.30.

He says they got through the electric fence and used a 4-pound hammer to break through bricks and cement.

“They didn’t steal anything but there’s a big hole in the wall where the robbers came through,” he said.

“There were three security guards working, one was shot. We are all scared that they might come back and try again. None of the security guards want to work at night anymore.”

The manager said Ginger the watchdog showed the police were the robbers were hiding. “I’m very proud of Ginger,” he added.

SAPS’ André Traut said police were on the scene quickly.

“Three constables aged 26, 32 and 44 and a security guard were shot and wounded on the scene and admitted to hospital.

“The circumstances surrounding the incident are under investigation, and once charged, the suspects are due to make a court appearance on charges of attempted murder and attempted business robbery.”
