CALM: Convicted killer CALM: Convicted killer

Sentencing proceedings against Wilson have been postponed in the Western Cape High Court on Monday following a request by state prosecutors.

Wilson, 20, from Heinz Park was convicted in June after he was found guilty of 13 of the 15 charges against him which includes murder, rape, attempted murder and assault.

Wilson, who was sent to Valkenberg Hospital for a 30-day evaluation after he was convicted, seemed calm in court and could not stop smiling.

He was released from the hospital on 27 July and transferred back to Pollsmoor Prison.

The matter was postponed to allow counsel to go through reports handed up from Valkenberg Hospital.

Judge Chantal Fortuin seemed irritated at the delay but granted the postponement requested by the state.

Statements from a victim and relatives of two other victims were also handed over to the court.

Arguments in mitigation and aggravation of sentencing will now begin next Monday.

The State indicated it would be calling medical experts to the stand to testify.

Seated in the public gallery, the parents of slain Valhalla Park teen, Lekita Moore, 18, sat listening intently.

An emotional Charl Moore, Lekita’s father, said: “I will be celebrating my birthday without her [today]. She always bought me a birthday present; celebrating it without her will be hard.

“But I believe she will be with me in spirit.”
