The crash happened on the corner of Boom and Schaapkraal roads in Philippi on Tuesday shortly after 8pm.
Police say two men, aged 25 and 27, who were both on the bike were injured in the accident.
According to a post in the Facebook group, Motorcycle Owners Cape Town, the
motorcycle, a black Suzuki GMX 750 with distinctive red rims,
was stolen in Observatory
on Saturday.
However, police could not confirm if it was the same bike.
The impact of the crash on Tuesday caused the ambulance’s windscreen to shatter and the front bumper to fall off, while the black Suzuki bike with red rims was crushed.
The two men injured on the scene were taken to the nearest hospital.
According to police, one of the males injured in the accident has been discharged, while the other remains in hospital.
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed. “This office can confirm a reckless and negligent driving case was opened after an accident [on Tuesday. Two males, age 25 and 27, were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment; one already discharged [and the] other still in hospital. The investigation continues.”
