A Table View couple was busted for allegedly selling dagga from their flat in Sandown Estate.

Police say the husband, 33, and his 28-year-old wife were arrested early on Thursday  morning.

“It appears that the dagga is imported, then packaged at the flat from where it is distributed,” said police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk.

According to police, about R3 million worth of imported, dried hydroponic dagga was found stashed in large boxes and glass jars in the apartment.

Police also found dagga in one of the smaller bathrooms as well as scales and vacuum sealers around the flat.

Van Wyk confirmed: “The estimated street value of the dagga is R3 million. Two suspects, a man aged 33 and his wife, aged 28, were arrested. Provincial Organised Crime detectives were on the scene and are to conduct the investigation.”

He says cops were initially responding to a domestic abuse complaint at 1am on Thursday.

“Table View SAPS members attended to a complaint of domestic violence in which a woman and her child were allegedly assaulted,” Van Wyk says.

“The woman who reported the alleged incident showed police the perpetrator’s flat.”

He says the arrested man told cops the person they were looking for was not there.

He agreed to let cops search the flat, leading to the discovery of the dagga.

The husband and wife are to appear in the Cape Town Magistrate's Court on Friday.
