Renaldo van Rooyen, 34, and Tawfeeq Ebrahim, 26, were both seen by the doctor at Pollsmoor Prison early on Wednesday morning.

However when their names were called at the Western Cape High Court, they were absent.

State prosecutor Maria Marshall, after some deliberation with the defence, and communication with a Mr Naidoo at Pollsmoor asked for the matter to be rolled over to Thursday morning.

“Mr Naidoo has indicated that the two accused had seen the doctor and were both fit and well after their visit with the doctor,” said Marshall.

It’s believed Ebrahim has an ingrown toenail and a swollen finger, while Van Rooyen has a tight chest and sore throat.

Zarah’s brother Brendan Hector accused the men of “wasting everybody’s time”.

“If the doctor declared them fit this morning after their visit, why did the poepholle not come to court? [It’s] because the pressure is getting too much and all the pieces are coming together and showing that they are guilty of murdering my sister, that’s why,” says Brendan.

The 33-year-old mother of two from Kuilsriver was last seen driving her now deceased boyfriend, Mark Kleinsmith’s BMW Z3 on 14 March 2016.

Her body was found 10 days later on the Bien Donne Farm in the Klein Drakenstein.

The State believes Zarah was killed with a hammer in Van Rooyen’s garage.

On Tuesday, State witness Quinton Pheira testified that the accused tried to sell him the BMW for R400.

Judge Lister Nuku postponed the matter to Thursday morning.
