She has been selected to play in the prestigious Dallas International Girls Cup soccer tournament in March next year.
And the 13-year-old will be playing in the under-17 team, which is no mean feat.
Now her family is busy raising the money for her travel and accommodation, and need your help to make Nabeelah’s dream come true.
The teen from Rocklands is one of Mitchells Plain’s brightest soccer stars, and also shines on the athletics field.
The Grade 8 Spine Road High pupil is a Western Province cross country
runner.
Nabeelah’s proud father, Riedewaan Gelant, says his youngest daughter started playing soccer at the age of four, and when she was nine, she played in a soccer league with boys.
“I am very proud of her and her many big achievements. She is doing exactly what I did. I did not achieve what she has or received the opportunities, but what she has done thus far in her short life amazes me. She is 13 and to be chosen for an under-17 tournament is amazing,” the dad says.

“We have started raffles, whereby you pay R20 and stand a chance to win a half lamb. We sell boerewors rolls. We want to get a hall to have a disco or something of the sort. We are willing to do any and everything for her to attend this week-long tournament.”
Nabeelah currently plays for Tafelzucht Football Club, and her coach, Rashied Satarien, says the girl gives her best at all times.
“Nabeelah is a very dedicated and hard working sports person. As for football, she has the talent to still go far. The opportunity she got now is well deserved and I know she will do well and definitely wear that number #10 Banyana Banyana jersey one day,” Rashied said.
