It’s believed the fire started in the bedroom and quickly spread to the rest of the house.
Spokesman for the City of Cape Town’s Fire and Rescue Services, Theo Layne, confirmed they responded to the emergency call at 4.30am.
He said the cause of the fire was undetermined and had been handed over to cops for further investigation.
Layne said Yengeni’s mother was the only person at home when the fire started.
She had sustained no injuries as she managed to get out of the house in time.
“The cause of the fire is undetermined at this stage and there were no injuries or fatalities.”
A witness said the fire had started in the main bedroom.
The Daily Voice contacted Yengeni, but he did not respond.
