DECLINE: Less water DECLINE: Less water
The water level of dams serving Cape Town have dropped slightly to 76% while average household consumption has risen, the City council warned on Monday.
“The average water consumption for the past week increased from 546 million litres per day to 563 million litres per day,” the council said.
The drop in dam levels marks a 0.2% decrease from the previous week.
The City warned consumers to try to restrict water usage to a collective 500 million litres a day, until the national water department reviewed restriction levels, probably in December.
“Consumers are reminded the permitted usage under Level 5 restrictions is 70 litres per person per day and that the Level 5 tariffs are still on the higher end of the tariff scale.”
