A couple were shot dead while sleeping in their Wendy house in Valhalla Park on Sunday morning.

Three other people who were on the property were also injured in the shooting and were transported with private vehicles to hospital before Emergency Medical Services and the police arrived at the scene in Johannes Street, according to residents.

According to neighbours, the couple were asleep in their hokkie when three armed men entered the property, kicked down their door and shot them in their bed.

Both victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds and died in bed.

“Those guys pulled up with screeching tyres and ran into the yard,” a resident says.

“I heard a crash as the door was kicked in and then just gunshots.

“The couple were asleep, but their friends were not.

“The three guys were outside and got shot as the shooters were leaving the hokkie.

“It’s the gangsters, man. Hulle hou nie op nie,” said the traumatised resident.
