A Zonnebloem man says he needs assistance in tracking his father whom he does not know.

Dario Thompson, 31, says he has always wondered who his father is and would love to meet him.

He says he’s been looking for his dad for a number of years but has had no luck.

“My mother passed away in Durban when I was in Grade 1. She was never home, always out and about and I was reared by my grandmother in Hout Bay,” he says.

“My grandmother passed when I was about 12 years old, but before she passed on she placed me in Boys Town Home as she was ill at the time.

“The only thing my grandmother ever told me was that my father was called ‘Biscuits’ and he used to carry me on his shoulders. Furthermore, I know nothing,” Dario explains.

Dario says he has several photos of men he thinks could be his father, but he is not sure.

“I have always had this void in my life to find my father and it’s been bothering me for years.

“My mother, Yvonne Thompson, always hung out in Woodstock with foreigners like Chinese and Taiwanese men who worked on the ships,” Dario says.

“I would really appreciate a lead or some help. It has been 31 years down the line and I would just like some clarity and the opportunity to meet him.”
