A young mom from Delft has died after being shot twice in the head while leaving her home on Sunday morning.

Confused neighbours in Rossini Street say they are puzzled by the shooting shortly after 7 am which left Lulama Stempi, 27, with two gunshot wounds.

Lubega William, 38, who shared a home with Lulama and her boyfriend, says he saw her minutes before the shooting and got a skrik when the first shot went off.

“She lives here with her boyfriend and seven-month-old daughter.

“She was very happy that morning because they were going to have a party for the baby and I was washing my face when she came down.

“She spoke to me and told me she was going to the shop to get meat and cooldrinks.”

William says shortly afterwards he heard the first shot and ducked.

“I heard the first shot and I was in shock so I ran. Then I heard another shot and, as I came out, I saw her falling on the floor and two guys running away.

“Her boyfriend ran after them, but then he came back. She was shot twice in the face and died in the street.”

Police spokeswoman, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, confirms the incident and says: “According to information provided, police responded to a shooting incident in Rossini Street at 7.20am. Upon their arrival, they found a 27-year-old woman who was shot and fatally wounded.

“Circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation with no arrests at this stage.”

Stempi’s boyfriend could not be reached yesterday, but William says they are not sure why she was killed.
