The domestic worker of a Pelican Park housewife who accused a Grassy Park cop of sexual assault has now also filed charges against him.

Sergeant Winston van

Schalkwyk was arrested and appeared in court last week after he allegedly forced the woman to give him a “hand job” in her home.

Van Schalkwyk made bail on Monday at the Wynberg

Magistrates’ Court.

The woman said the alleged incident happened last

Thursday, after she had sent her son and the domestic worker to a nearby shop.

The 23-year-old domestic worker, who is originally from Oudshoorn, says when she returned from the shop she had no idea “what had just happened” between Van Schalkwyk and her employer.

“I don’t know where my employer was at that stage, I was in the kitchen when he came in.

“I tried moving out of the way for him to get past me and that’s when he moved against me,” the young woman says.

“He then also inappropriately touched my bum and my hips. I didn’t like it. I felt uncomfortable. He didn’t say anything and left.”

She says she only found out about her employer’s alleged incident later that night when the woman told her husband, and they left to go lay a charge.

She says she didn’t say anything but decided to go to Grassy Park Police Station the next day to also file

charges against Van Schalkwyk.

“The charge that was opened was that of sexual assault,” she adds.

However, according to police spokesperson, Siyabulelo Malo, the case number the domestic provided corresponds with a case of assault and not

sexual assault.

“Grassy Park Police can confirm that a case of common assault was opened for investigation.”
