Five men alleged to be Hard Livings gangsters have been shot and killed in Mitchells Plain in one week, allegedly by rival skollies.

In the first attack on

Monday, just before midnight in Metropolitan Way, Beacon Valley, an alleged HL skollie was shot and killed in a driveby shooting.

A witness says men in a black hatchback vehicle opened fire on him and he died on the

pavement.

On Tuesday in New Woodlands, residents say two known thugs were shot and killed on a veldjie in Johannes Meintjies Road.

Neighbours said they were both HLs and robbed people on their way to work.

On Wednesday morning, Ricardo Plaatjies was shot and killed at a house in Cypress Street, Westridge.

The house is said to belong to his brother, who is allegedly a Hard Livings member.

Later that afternoon, the owner of a tyre shop in the same street was also shot and killed.

The 26-year-old man was apparently approached by three men on foot and shot in front of his house. He died on the scene.

And just before 9pm on Wednesday, another 20-year-old man linked to the HLs was shot in Eisleben Road.

A community worker said the shootings were not random, but targeted hits.

“These were no accidents and the targets are all very clearly HLs. We do not celebrate the death of anyone, but it will mean a safer community without these few roaming around.”

Police spokesperson, Mihlali Majikela, confirmed the shootings in Westridge and said no arrests have been made.
