The man accused of the cold-blooded murder of a beloved Manenberg ouma has abandoned his bail bid and will soon appear in the Wynberg Regional Court to hear his fate.

Manenberg residents rejoiced on Wednesday as Trevor “Toyer” Michaels, 50, who is accused of killing his girlfriend Magdalene Isaacs told Magistrate Keith le Keur that he no longer wanted to continue with his bail application.

Residents attended to show their support of the slain ouma fondly known as Aunty Macy, whose body was found inside her Irvine Street home on 10 February.

The woman was apparently stabbed to death and one of her daughters made the gruesome discovery.

A large crowd of residents had gathered outside Aunty Macy’s home, expressing their shock at her murder.

Her funeral was held a week later and was attended by over 1000 mourners who came to bid her farewell.

The single mom, who was known for helping elderly people in her community, was also a breast

cancer survivor.

Manenberg police immediately went on the hunt for Michaels, who left a note behind, and after being busted in Bellville allegedly made a full confession to cops.

Last month he confused the court when he indicated, despite his confession and petitions calling for his bail to be denied, that he wanted to proceed with a bail application.
