HIT: Richard Jones from Brooklyn HIT: Richard Jones from Brooklyn
A church deacon from Brooklyn in Milnerton was allegedly killed in a hit-and-run incident on Friday and the family is now seeking assistance to locate the perpetrator.
Richard Jones, 66, was left for dead in Koeberg Road opposite Drommedaris after a car hit him.
His nephew Clifton Felix says he received a call around 7am from someone informing about the tragic incident.
“I received a call from my uncle’s neighbour saying he was knocked over in a hit-and-run accident,” he says.
“Paramedics told me he was code red as he suffered from head trauma.”
The deceased, who has no children, retired five months ago from his job at the Westin Hotel where he worked as an executive butler.

Clifton says over the years, Richard had served people like the late pop star Michael Jackson, former president Nelson Mandela and billionaire mining magnate Patrice Motsepe.
“He was a nice guy, well known in the community and he also served the community well (through the New Apostolic Church).”
Clifton says he hopes the City’s CCTV cameras along Koeberg Road will show them what took place.
“There was a big vehicle mirror lying in the road which makes me believe that he was hit by a taxi,” he says.
“What also boggles my mind is that he arrived at the hospital still breathing and we were informed that he is brain dead.
“They switched off the ventilators before we arrived. Was proper protocol followed?”
He says officials from Milnerton SAPS have yet to visit the family in order to open a case.
“If someone saw something, please inform the police. We want closure.”
