Pavement specials: Get dite delivered to your vehicle

Staff Reporter|Published

The fast food industry in South Africa has just taken it up a notch.

Both KFC and Nando’s this week announced that they would be introducing kerbside collections as the country eases into Level 3 of lockdown restrictions.

KFC announced that they would be piloting a new kerbside collection service this month at over 100 restaurants, with the intention to expand this service rapidly, Bizcommunity reported.

The fast food chain said that it would be offering a limited menu until 8 June.

Maar moenie worry nie, your favourites like Zinger wings and the Streetwise classics will be available.

To make use of the new service, you have to download both restaurant chains’ apps.

DRIVE & DITE: Get your KFC favourites while in your car

If you smaak KFC, open the app and select your preferred restaurant based on your location, then select “kerbside collection” and place your order.

Confirm your card details and make your payment.

Then, get to your selected KFC restaurant, park in the kerbside parking bay, check-in on the app and a KFC staffer will deliver your dite to your car.

Meanwhile, Nando’s is also turning to tech to maintain social distancing.

Their kerbside collection service is available on the Nando’s app, website or through their call centre.

@NandosSA tweeted: “Level 3 means less screen time, more meal time! For something with a little more substance & flavour, #APPthat and get your Nando’s via Kerbside collection, delivery, drive-thru, takeaway or call order: https://bit.ly/3gCW70u”

According to their website, this means you will be able to order, drive to Nando’s, and collect your food without leaving your car.

When placing your order, you provide your car details (make, colour and registration) so they know how to find you when you pull up in the kerbside parking bays.

Under Level 3, restaurants can offer collections and takeaways, instead of just delivery.

Restaurant sit-down remains banned.
