A Parkwood mother, who allegedly encouraged skollies to attack police, will appear alongside her gangster pals in the dock at Wynberg Magistrates’ Court today.

The 29-year-old woman was arrested by Grassy Park SAPS on Thursday after the arrests of three other men in Moosa Walk who helped a gang hitman escape police custody on Monday.

The incident sparked anger among cops and local crime-fighters who vowed to take harsh action against those involved in the mob attack during which cops were pelted with stones leading to the hitman, who is believed to be a member of the Six Bobs gang, to escape.

Station commander Colonel Dawood Laing says after a month of searching for the hitman they found him, but a mob of 80 people descended on cops.

As women called for skollies to steal an officer’s firearms, cops were forced to flee.

Two days later, cops hit back and arrested two men identified and a third suspect later handed himself over.

On Thursday cops returned to Moosa Walk on the hunt for the woman who is the alleged mastermind behind the attack.

“She started the whole thing and was the main person who tried to encourage skollies to steal the officer’s firearms,” says Laing.

He says the woman has been charged with assaulting police officers and public violence and will appear alongside her accomplices today.

“We are calling on the courts to deny their bail applications,” the top cop says.

“It is often that we see women supporting their gangster friends so they can benefit from the money made through criminal networks and these are the consequences.

“These are the same women that cry when their children are shot.”
