ARRESTED: TV diewe tried to flee but they were then caught in Khayelitsha

A group of TV skelms, who have been terrorising Khayelitsha residents for months, met their match on Wednesday when they were caught by cops.

The group was chased and arrested while driving a stolen white VW Polo in Site C.

The two skelms had just gun-pointed and robbed a man in Bongweni when a resident in a private car gave chase.

Police joined the chase and cornered the suspects in Site C.

The man who chased after the diewe says he saw the skelms robbing someone and decided to pursue them.

“I did not know what I was thinking but I am tired of crime and I just went on,” says the man who asked not to be named.

“I was lucky that the police joined in and managed to catch them.”

GETAWAY: Stolen white Polo

As pictures of the suspects started making the rounds on anti-crime groups, people started recognising them saying they have seen them stealing TVs from homes before around Khayelitsha, Philippi and Gugulethu.

Khungeka Bota said he was almost a victim when they broke into his house through a window: “They travel with a white bakkie which people should look out for. I was lucky because I was home and they proceeded to another house not far from mine.”

Some residents expressed anger that they didn’t get their hands on the skelms: “They will get bail and continue stealing. We should have beaten them.”

Police did not respond to Daily Voice queries by last night.
