'LOVE LIVED HERE': Chad du Plessis and proud mom, Pearl
The mother of a Cape Flats rapper says he had a bright future ahead of him before he was senselessly stabbed to death on Saturday night.
Chad du Plessis, aka CDP, was outside his brother’s house in Strandfontein when five men attacked him just after midnight.
The 22-year-old was one member of the band of three brothers called Beeza CPT.
In an emotional Facebook post, Pearl du Plessis shared a sweet video of Chad congratulating his sister on her 18th birthday.
She said her son was completing a degree in business, had been promoted at work, and had bought a house in Strand.
Pearl wrote: “He was loving, kind, humble, caring and had his life planned.
“Completed the last of his exam for a degree in business administration, just got promoted a month ago at his workplace and bought a house which was just about to be go to the deeds office.
“He achieved so much because he believed in his parents and siblings. He only made informed decisions
“He always consulted with us, his parents. He did not live a life in the way that he died.
“He did not live by the knife. He was not remotely like that.”
Pearl said she now wants justice for her son.
“To those who drove past the scene and did not stop to help, you could have saved him, but I forgive you. The man who stopped but just left again, I forgive you,” she said.
“I will never understand why those guys did what they did to my sons, but I pray for justice to take a fair and true course.
“You have just left us with good memories, Chad. I love you my son, I will always miss you, love you forever.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says Chad was stabbed in his upper body in Dennegeur Avenue.
“The deceased was about to pull into the driveway when he was approached by five unknown men,” he said.
“An argument ensued where the deceased was fatally stabbed. Strandfontein police are investigating a murder case.
“No arrests as yet. The investigation is ongoing.”
