A Browns Farm resident says he is gatvol of the bumpy ride to his home due to the potholes in the streets of Philippi.
Dan Mageza, 69, lives in Mdubi Drive in Village 4A and says cars look like they are dancing up the road, as drivers swerve and sway to avoid hitting the holes.
“Please help us. All of the streets in Philippi are full of potholes," pleads a desperate Mageza.
He says he is worried that the moerse gate will damage his car or cause accidents.
"It is very difficult to drive on these roads and very dangerous at night.”
The Daily Voice has seen at least five emails that were sent to the City of Cape Town regarding potholes in Nowembesa, Sinqolamthi, Link and Ngubelanga roads, as well a s Ndubi Street.
"I don't know why they take so long to fix this problem. I have complained since last year. Nobody's come to assist us," explains the disappointed oupa.
The City says repair work has been scheduled, but there are delays.
"The City's Mitchells Plain Roads and Infrastructure depot did receive the mentioned complaints.
"Each complaint has been investigated, assessed and the repairs have been scheduled," says City of Cape Town spokesperson, Luthando Tyhalibongo.
The City says “asphalt delivery delays” have disrupted the road repair schedule, but they should resolve the matter this month to tend to the potholes, “as soon as possible".
The City did not provide the exact date that repairs will commence.
Mageza is hopeful they will keep their word: “The community is trying to fix the holes. I hope the City arrives soon."
