Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating three men alleged to be involved in two separate rape incidents in the Nyanga cluster.
Spokesperson Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana said identikits of the three men have been released.
She said in the first incident, which took place on 29 December 2020, a 15-year-old girl was kidnapped by an unknown African man in a Toyota Avanza.
The girl was taken to the Ramaphosa informal settlement in Nyanga where she was raped.
The detectives from the Nyanga Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit have been tasked to investigate the matter.
In an unrelated incident on the same day, a 31-year-old woman was kidnapped while walking to the shop in the area.
The woman was snatched from the side of the road allegedly by two unknown men who were driving a red VW Golf 7.
According to Rwexana, the woman was raped by both men.
“The suspects both raped the complainant.”
Rwexana urged anyone with information that can assist the police in arresting the suspects to contact the investigating officer, Sergeant Chris Mafalala, on 063 614 1303 or Nyanga FCS on 021 376 9850.
