A 34-year-old Somali shop owner was killed in Elsies River on Saturday.
Ilyaas Wehliye was alone in his car when a gunman shot him at the corner of Halt Road and Eighth Avenue.
The deceased’s distressed wife Stephanie Valentine says her husband was waiting for a friend just after 7pm.
“He was waiting for a friend near the scrap metal and someone shot him while he was inside the car.
“I do not think it was a robbery as he had all his items with him and his cousin gave me his phone which he took from the scene.”
She says she cannot say what led to the shooting as her husband was a good man.
“He was a peace-loving person and bothered no one. I will miss him.”
Stephanie says they have been married for four years and she never expected to lose her husband this way.
“We have been married for four years and we have no kids. I cannot believe that I lost him this way. I went to the scene after they shot him and I wanted to see his body.
“When I got there, I saw his belt and I knew it was him, I could not proceed to look at his face.”
Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says: “The suspects fled the scene and are yet to be arrested, and we make an appeal to the public to come forward with information that can assist us with our investigation.
