SLAIN: Riaan Syster, 31

Protesters were left bedonnerd after the bail application for the two men accused of killing Riaan Syster, 31, was postponed to Friday.

Riaan was murdered on Saturday, 26 April, and his body left in front of his mother’s door.

Sister Rinene, 29, says the family were woken up by the hartseer cries of his father who discovered the body of the young dad shortly after 4am in Fresia Street.

Police arrested his two friends, aged 23 and 24, who appeared on a charge of murder yesterday at the Malmesbury Magistrates’ Court.

Riaan was bludgeoned with a brick and stabbed 12 times, which led to internal bleeding and his death.

Community members came out in their numbers in support of the victim, who is better known as Bruggie, and his family.

Rinene Syster says her parents are still haunted by the crime scene at their house.

“My dad doesn’t sleep. He doesn’t talk. He doesn’t eat. My mom as well,” she says.

“He says every time he closes his eyes he sees Riaan with one eye open, lying in the cold that Saturday morning.”

“We are thankful for all the prayers and support, especially at court.

“I ask people to continue praying for our family, especially my parents.

“I believe we will get justice for my brother.

“We pray for the process of the law to take its course.”
