A bekgeveg over loud music ended in a brawl between neighbours which saw 10 people arrested.
Ashoora Petersen and Muneeba Schaffers, who live together in Irene Court in Heideveld claim Manenberg SAPS ignored their pleas for help after they were allegedly moered by their neighbours on Sunday, 18 April for playing loud music.
“When I came home the Sunday afternoon, Muneeba told me that an auntie living above us asked her to turn down the music, which she did without saying anything,” says Ashoora.
Muneeba claims the woman came back with her family and a neighbour, who all allegedly attacked her.
Ashoora adds: “I went upstairs to ask the auntie what happened and they spinned the story.
“Another neighbour confirmed that Muneeba was moered by the whole family.
“After a while someone came to check on us if we’re okay because they heard about Muneeba and they (the neighbours) started skelling again. They came to our flat and moered us.”
She says they tried calling Manenberg SAPS, but no one arrived.
She says, instead, they were arrested after the neighbours laid a charge against them.
She and Muneeba immediately laid counter charges and in the end a total of 10 people were arrested.
They were due to appear in the Fezeka (Gugulethu) Municipal Court on Thursday.
Police spokesman Colonel Andrè Traut confirmed the incident, saying: “Cases of assault and intimidation were investigated after a neighbour dispute turned violent leading to the arrest of nine females and one male.
“They had a mediation meeting at court today, which resulted in the matter being resolved.
"All parties involved decided to drop the charges.”
The Daily Voice tried to contact their upstairs neighbour, but she was unavailable.
