This was the shocking scene at the Liberty Promenade mall on Saturday when a man drove over a traffic circle and landed on top of a parked car outside KFC.
Mitchells Plain police are now investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving and said the driver was not drunk, but suffers from a medical condition.
The white Hyundai Tucson broke through fencing and landed on top of a white VW Polo.
Videos from the scene show shocked shoppers rushing to rescue a woman from the front seat of the Polo.
After they managed to open the door, the dazed woman managed to roll out of the car.
SAPS’ Joseph Swaartbooi says according to reports, a vehicle was driving in the parking area at about 4.25pm.
“The driver, who has a medical condition, suffered an attack behind the wheel of his vehicle, lost control and collided with another vehicle.
“No one sustained any injuries,” explains Swaartbooi.
Siphosethu Mafuduka, a trolley attendant at the mall, was one of the witnesses at the scene.
He says it is puzzling how the car flew that high through the sky.
“I do not know how it got this high. It was already on top of that white car when I got here, we could not believe it,” he said.
