ARRESTED: Suspect. Picture supplied

A Parkwood gunman made his first appearance in the Wynberg Magistrates’ Court yesterday after being busted by wakker police.

An investigation revealed that the 24-year-old man was among seven people who were shot at on Eid where two people died.

Grassy Park SAPS commander Colonel Dawood Laing says on Sunday night, cops received a tip-off that the suspect was standing in the street carrying a gun.

“The Crime Prevention Unit (CPU) received a tip-off that the suspect was wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and white takkies.

“They arrived and saw the suspect who started running away.

“They caught up with him and found a pistol with 14 rounds of live ammunition and he was arrested.”

SEIZED: Gun and bullets. Picture supplied

Laing says during the investigation, cops discovered that the suspect was one of the victims who sustained bullet wounds on 21 July during a shooting where seven members of a prominent Parkwood family were shot on Eid.

Ghareez Brenner, 32, and Ridwaan Barron, 40, were killed on the day.

“The suspect was shot in the arm during that shooting and following his arrest the matter will be investigated to see what is his connection.

“He has not been linked to any local gang in the area.

“We are waiting for the docket to be returned.”
