Relatives of a man who was burnt to death in Gugulethu in a mob justice attack say that he was not a skollie.
They have identified the man as Selleso Wilson, 39, a father of four from Heideveld.
His sister Shannon, 43, says he was at the wrong place at the wrong time last Thursday afternoon.
“They murdered someone’s father, son and husband,” she says.
“My brother would never steal from anyone.
“He never took anything from us, he was a man who lived for his children, everyone in Heideveld knows what a kind of man he was.”
Shannon says she didn’t know her brother was missing until Friday morning.
“His wife called me that morning and told me that he had not come home.
“And then we started worrying because he had never stayed away, we always knew his whereabouts.
“He was last seen around noon that day.”
She says while they were searching for Selleso, they received video of a man’s remains burning near the train tracks in Gugulethu.
“When I opened that video, I instantly knew that it was my brother because of the takkies he was wearing and also the bone structure.
“My brother didn’t deserve to die like that and even if he had stolen anything, they could have taken him to the police and let them deal with that.”
She says she will not rest until justice is served: “Mob justice doesn’t exist, they are actually mob murderers, I want justice.
“Who are they to kill a father of four children?
“How did he feel when he saw his death coming? Who did he call out for?”
SAPS spokesperson FC van Wyk says the Gugulethu police are investigating a murder case with no arrests yet.
