A Bonteheuwel mom accused of manufacturing and selling child pornography is set to go on trial soon.

The 32-year-old is accused of selling the pictures and videos depicting her own children to paedophiles in America.

The arrest of the woman, who initially sold pictures of herself, sent shockwaves through the community after she was busted at her home in Bluegum Street in April.

She was investigated by the US Homeland Security Department along with the Western Cape Serial and Electronic Crimes Investigations (SECI) Unit and cops confiscated computers and other equipment.

A source revealed that the state was considering adding rape charges to the case.

She has not yet applied for bail and returned to court on Wednesday where it was revealed that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) needed to make a decision.

National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson, Eric Ntabazalila, says: “A woman appeared at the Bishop Lavis Magistrates’ Court and was charged with selling pictures of her four-year-old daughter on the dark web.

“Her case has been postponed until 8 December for a DPP decision on forum for trial.”

Bonteheuwel ward councillor, Angus Mckenzie, says they call on the department to make a swift decision.
