A Hanover Park teen is lucky to be alive after she was struck by a stray bullet well helping a sickly woman on Monday night.
The hartseer father of Zeenat Lombard, 13, said he got a skrik when he arrived at the scene in Surwood Walk as his daughter cried in pain after being struck in the upper leg after she was caught in crossfire.
A 40-year-old man was killed, while a 18-year-old male was shot in the neck and rushed to hospital.
Dad Abduraghmaan says: "I wasn't in the road and she went to help a lady who struggles to breathe when she carry some things.
"We heard shots and when I went out I saw she was shot. The bullet went into her right upper leg and stayed inside her body. From what I understand, a car came and shot at people in the street and another guy died."
The teen was rushed to Heideveld Emergency Centre where doctors took her for x-rays and gave her pain medication.
Police spokesperson, Sergeant Wesley Twigg, confirmed the shooting.
He reports: "The circumstances surrounding a shooting incident on Monday evening, at about 6pm in Surwood Walk, where a 40-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and a 18-year-old male and a 13-year- old girl shot and wounded are under investigation.
"The motive for the attack forms part of the police investigation. The suspect/s are yet to be arrested. Philippi detectives are investigating murder and attempted murder cases".
