An anonymous tip-off and the alertness of members deployed at the Wynberg Magistrates Court resulted in the bust on Monday.

Cops seized dagga, Mandrax and tik, as well as dop, entjies and anti-depressants.  

Police spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Malcolm Pojie reports: “Based on the anonymous tip-off, members attached to Wynberg Magistrates Court responded by executing a search in the court holding cells upon which they confiscated consignment of narcotics, consisting small quantities of dagga bullets, mandrax and tik. 

“The members also confiscated liquor which was concealed in small sanitizer bottles as well as Xanax tablets and a few packets of cigarettes.

“As a result of the discovery, the members arrested two male detainees, aged 25 and 38 for the possession of drugs. 

“They are scheduled to appear in the same Magistrates Court once charged.”

Also on Monday night, cops busted two suspects in Tafelsig with illegal guns. 

Spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana says: “Members attached to the Anti-Gang Unit operationalised information they received about possible firearms in the Tafelsig area which took them to an address in Bainskloof Street, Tafelsig, Mitchells Plain where they found and seized a black ADP firearm with its serial number removed as well as one magazine with eight rounds of ammunition. The members arrested an adult man for possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.

“The members then proceeded to a second address in Goudini Street, Tafelsig, where they found a silver Rossie .38 Special. An adult man that was found at the premises was subsequently arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm.”
