POLICE have yet to make any arrests in the murder of alleged underworld kingpin Andre Naude last Thursday.
The 55-year-old was gunned down in broad daylight on Voortrekker Road as he was climbing into his gun-metal Toyota Hi-Lux bakkie.
According to police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk, Naude was shot several times in the back when a grey BMW pulled up next to his double-cab and opened fire at the private security company owner and three other men.
One was hit and taken to a medical facility for treatment while the other two were unharmed.
Van Wyk added: “We opened a case of murder and three of attempted murder.
“The Anti-Gang Unit (AGU) is investigating”.
“Kindly be advised that the matter you are referring to is under investigation no arrests have been made yet.”
Naude was a friend and associate of controversial businessman Mark Lifman, who was killed by gunmen in George’s Garden Route Mall in November 2024.
Their mutual pal and alleged leader of the Sexy Boys gang, Jerome ‘Donkie’ Booysen, was also on the scene not long after the shooting.
The three are the main accused in the Brian Wainstein murder case, which is being heard at the Western Cape High Court.
Also on the scene was another alleged underworld figure, Suhail Mohammed, known as “Mr Zulu”.
After the shooting, AGU combed the scene looking for clues in the area, which is apparently a stronghold of the 28s gang - a rival mob allegedly run by Ralph Stanfield, who is currently behind bars.
A source tells Independent Media: “That territory there belongs to the 28s. But, everything is not as it seems, and more will unravel as time goes on.”
