SENTENCED: Child killer Kyle du Toit went viral for bribery scandal

CONVICTED child killers Kyle du Toit and Mohammed Yaseen Claasen have been sentenced to life innie mang.
The pair got their straf in the Western Cape High Court on Friday for the murder of 15-year-old Dwayne Tyman, as well as two separate murders.
Tyman, a Grade 10 pupil at Groenvlei High, was killed by a stray bullet on 28 May 2020 while standing with friends in Surburg Walk during a gun battle between the Americans and the Ghetto Kids.
Du Toit and Claasen, along with Chadwin Charles and Bashier Gamba, went on trial.
According a statement by the South African Police Service (SAPS) on Saturday, Claasen and Du Toit were also sentenced for killing a gang rival in Athburg Walk, Hanover Park on 11 June 2019 and gunning down an 18-year-old man near to a petrol station in Hanover Park on 6 November 2019.
The cops said: “The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant-General Thembisile Patekile, welcomes the sentences of 23-year-old Mohammed Yaseen Claasen and 26-year-old Kyle Du Toit on separate murder cases.
“Investigations into the circumstances surrounding these incidents were conducted by the Anti-Gang Unit.
“The investigation team gathered the relevant information and ensured a breakthrough when they detained four males aged between 21 and 26.
“The four accused appeared in the Athlone Magistrates court where their application for bail was successfully opposed.
“The case was transferred to the Western Cape High court. Accused 2 and 3 were acquitted on all charges on 27 March 2025.
“On Friday 20 June 2025 the accused, Claasen and Du Toit were sentenced to life imprisonment for murder, attempted murder and for the possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition...”
Du Toit, meanwhile, made headlines while in Pollsmoor, with video of him bribing a prison guard earlier this year, which went viral.
The video sent tonge klapping on social media and even resulted in questions being posed to Correctional Services Minister Pieter Groenewald by Members of Parliament.
The video showed a fully-uniformed warden openly posing on a video being made by the inmate on his cellphone.
Du Toit is heard saying: “The warden caught my phone. You must give him a C-voucher otherwise he is going to take this phone.”
After the video was released, another video showed the bandiet was even allowed to enter the visitation area of the prison so he could take a selfie when his motjie who came to visit him in the mang.
