THE journey for the Kaap se new footballing superstar could be kicking off this weekend.

The Cape Town leg of the 2025 Engen Knockout Challenge officially gets underway this weekend, with 32 of the region’s top youth sides set to compete in the playoff phase from 11-13 July at Erica Park Sports Ground in Belhar.
Defending champions Stellenbosch FC (boys) and Cape Town Roses (girls) will return with their sights set on retaining their titles and once again securing the right to represent the Western Cape at the prestigious Engen Champ of Champs, scheduled for 3-5 October at the High-Performance Centre in Pretoria.
Now in its 22nd edition, the Engen Knockout Challenge remains one of the country’s leading youth football platforms, providing players with an opportunity to compete at a high level and gain exposure on a national stage.
As teams prepare to compete for provincial honours, the message remains clear “It’s your moment to be future Diski legends”.
The Cape Town playoffs mark a critical step in the journey to October, with teams competing not just for silverware, but the chance to represent the province against South Africa’s best.
