THE convicted killer of a Lavender Hill ouma has been sentenced to 23 years innie mang.
The Daily Voice reported that Charlene Josephs (Overmeyer) was kidnapped from her St Montaque Village home at gunpoint by three masked men on 10 July 2024.
The family said they were watching TV when the electricity was cut before the men entered.
The 57-year-old was found 40 days later behind the municipal landfill site in Muizenberg by police.
Charles Williams, 51, and two others, Farried Williams, 23, and 31-year- old Jason Arendse were later arrested.
And according to police, Williams was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for murder, five years for kidnapping and the years for defeating the ends of justice by the Khayelitsha Priority Court this week.
SAPS spokesperson Anelisiwe Manyana reports: “The Provincial Organised Crime Investigation, Anti Kidnapping Task Team was activated for the investigation of this matter and 40 days later the body of the victim was discovered in a shallow grave in Xakabuntu, Vrygrond, Muizenberg.
“Three suspects, namely, 23-year-old Farried Williams, 51-year-old Charles Williams, and 31-year-old Jason Arendse, were later arrested and positively linked to the kidnapping, murder of the victim and for defeating the ends of justice.
“The suspects were charged and brought before [court] on several occasions and their bail was successfully opposed. The matter was then escalated to the Khayelitsha Priority court.
“On Tuesday, 22 July 2025 at the Khayelitsha Priority Court, the charges were withdrawn against [Farried] and [Arendse].
“Accused number two, Charles Williams was found guilty on all charges.”
