OG Cafe rocked by gang war

ONE of the deceased in the two shootings at the popular OG Café in Westgate, Mitchells Plain over the weekend is believed to be an alleged leader of the Firm Gang.

Back-to-back shootings on 31 July and 1 August claimed the lives of two mense and left four injured, sparking major concern among community leaders.

Mitchells Plain Community Policing Forum (CPF) Chairperson Norman Jantjies said they are bekommerd about the ongoing gang violence in the area. 

Jantjies explains: "Westgate has always been a relatively peaceful community and now we've witnessed 2 murders in  two consecutive days. 

"These incidents are clearly gang related as the second murder was in retaliation to the first one."

CPF spokesperson Linda Jones told the Daily Voice that the 40-year-old ou murder victim in the Thursday attack is believed to be a leader of the 28s.

Jantjies added: “According to reliable sources, he was a leader of the Firm.”

The gang is known to be affiliated with the 28s gang. 

Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk confirmed: “Mitchells Plain police are investigating cases of murder and attempted murder following a shooting on Thursday, 31 July at about 15.20 at a premises in Oscar Close, Westgate. A 40-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded and another person was injured.”
