Gayton: I called off Open Chats threats

MINISTER of Sports, Arts and Culture of South Africa Gayton McKenzie says he called off mense threatening the Open Chats hosts.

McKenzie's Patriotic Alliance filed criminal charges against Open Chats Podcast hosts Mthokozisi Methula and Sinothando Kama following their racist remarks aimed at the coloured community last week.

The host had make remarks saying that coloureds are incestuous and "crazy".

Now he claims that the Open Chats podcasters' lives were threatened but that he called off those who were issuing threats.

He told The Konvo Show: "This is deeper than what transpired between us and them. These kids don't know that there are people who take things out of hand. People see the call of someone asking for their address. 

"I was the one that called those people and I said 'no, I'm handling this'. But people don't see that. Those kids don't know who they are messing with," he said,

This claim is a criminal admission according to the EFF's deputy president, Godrich Gardee.

Gardee said: "He was called by people who wanted to harm the kids and he told them 'No, don't do it, I am handling this'.

"He is in contact with criminals who want to harm the kids and he did not inform the police. He is complicit to the crime that will be committed against the kids.

McKenzie went on to imply that coloured people have limited options compared to black people. He added: "The law says opportunities must go to black people in particular...Coloured people don't get funding from NSFAS, only a small minority."

McKenzie is currently embroiled in his own racist scandal for using the K-word numerous times on social media.

McKenzie also called for the Open Chats podcaster to attend 'race sensitivity classes' following their racist remarks towards coloured people.

He said: "They should go to race sensitivity classes.

"I will not allow those kids to go to jail. We have restorative justice in our country. They should have no (criminal) records."
