The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) has confirmed that all social grant amounts will increase by skamele R10 from next month.
The agency announced the top-up as part of the October 2025 payment cycle, in line with the national budget presented earlier this year.
The adjustment follows Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana’s announcement during his 2025/26 Budget Speech, where he tabled a two-phase grant increase, first in April and a smaller increment in October.
Seniors will see the Old Age Grants increase from R2 310 to R2 320, while those over over 75 years will see their pay pakkie go up to R2 340 from R2 330.

SASSA CEO Themba Matlou welcomed the increment, describing it as "crucial" in shielding beneficiaries from ongoing economic challenges.
Matlou said: “This reaffirms government's commitment to protecting the most vulnerable in society, easing financial burden and cushioning them against economic hardships.”
He also assured beneficiaries that preparations for the October grant disbursements are fully on track.
Matlou added: “It is all systems go for the October payment cycle. All eligible social grants beneficiaries will receive their grants without any interruption.”
SASSA outlined the payment schedule for October 2025: Old Age Grants: Thursday, 2 October 2025, Disability Grants: Friday, 3 October 2025 and Children’s Grants: Monday, 6 October 2025
The agency encourages beneficiaries to access their funds after the payment date at their convenience, and not all on the same day, to avoid long queues and congestion at payment sites.
