Dayaan Fataar has been linked to case of 19 guns

Police are appealing for public assistance in locating Dayaan Fataar, a person of interest in an investigation involving the seizure of 19 firearms.

THE Police’s Anti-Gang Unit detectives are seeking the assistance of the public in tracing a person of interest who could assist with investigation into the seizure of 19 firearms and ammunition which was found at a residence in Weltevreden Valley, Mitchells Plain last month.

Police spokesperson, Captain FC Van Wyk said they were looking for a man known as Dayaan Fataar and is appealing to the public to assist in tracing him.

Cops seized 19 firearms assortment of 1 500 rounds of ammunition, three gun safes, 26 magazines, a stun grenade, a silencer and shooting practice target board, concealed in cooler boxes.

Van Wyk explained: “Anti-Gang Unit detectives are seeking the assistance of the public to trace Dayaan Fataar , who is a person of interest in an enquiry where several firearms and ammunition were found."

 “On Monday, 1 September, SAPS members received information of firearms being stored at a house in Weltevreden Valley, Mitchells Plain. 

“The members then operationalised the information and conducted a search at a premises in Oakway, Weltevreden Valley, Mitchells Plain, where they discovered an arms cache. 

“The illegal firearms and ammunition were concealed in cooler boxes and safes in the house. The person who rented the house was untraceable.
