A MITCHELLS Plain teen told her fellows matriculants that the sky's the limit after stieking uit at her Matric Ball in a helicopter.
Gabby-Lee Davids, 18, made an entrance of note at Spine Road High school on 3 October, sending tonge klapping.
She said it was thanks to Helivate, the helicopter company that made this moment possible.
The teen wysed: “Their professionalism and support helped turn a lifelong dream into reality.
But for Davids, it wasn’t just about the moment, but showing everyone that you could defy the odds and become anything that you set your mind to.
She added: “I reside in Mitchells Plain, Cape Town. It’s where I grew up, and it will always be home to me.
“The idea was mine. Growing up, there were times when people looked down on me, underestimated me, and didn’t believe I could achieve much.

“This was my moment to prove them wrong, to show that I can do something bold, something people would remember.
“Arriving in a helicopter wasn’t just about making an entrance; it was about reminding myself that no matter how others see you, you can always rise above and make your dreams real. It was my opportunity to shine and celebrate how far I’ve come.
“Everyone’s reactions were priceless.
"The moment they heard the sound of the helicopter approaching, people started cheering, recording videos, and shouting in excitement. When I stepped out, all eyes were on me. It was such an empowering moment. “
She said the experience set the platform for her career one day.
The meisie shared: “After school, I plan to study to become a paramedic. I’ve always had a passion for helping others, especially in emergency situations.
"I want to be one of those people who make a difference when it matters most, someone who can bring calm and care during someone’s toughest moments. It’s something I’ve always dreamed of doing, and I’m determined to follow that path.

“The helicopter ride was absolutely incredible. It’s hard to describe the feeling. It was both nerve-wracking and exciting at the same time.
“Seeing the world from above was such a breathtaking experience, and I couldn’t stop smiling. It was my first time in a helicopter, so it felt extra special.
"I’ve been on an airplane before, but this was totally different, more personal, more thrilling, and honestly something I’ll never forget.”
Her father, Gavin Davids said the moment was priceless: “Watching my daughter step out of that helicopter filled me with pride and emotion.
"It wasn’t just a grand entrance — it was a moment that showed how determined and fearless she’s become. I’ve seen her grow through challenges and still find a way to stand tall."
The helicopter flew back the next day due to flight times and air traffic regulations.
