ALLEGED baby snatcher Sameemah Jacobs has changed her tune.

This time instead of asking the court permission to attend a religious excursion, she is keen to visit her son in Mitchells Plain and to sign in at Delft police station.

The state is set to prove Jacobs kidnapped Imaad Sharmar from his mother, Imaan Sharmar at Middestad Mall in Bellville under the pretence that she was a volunteer for an NPO.

Jacobs, who was once again dressed in pardah, appeared agitated the moment she walked into the dock at the Bellville Magistrate's Court yesterday armed with a fresh affidavit.

She told the magistrate that her legal aid lawyer had not given her the opportunity to speak and had raised her hand inside court.

She said she had made a new affidavit, requesting an amendment to her bail conditions which forbids her from visiting Mitchells Plain and Strandfontein and is to sign at Kleinvlei police station three times a week.

State prosecutor Salaahudeen Simon informed the court they were unaware of the amendment request, but would not oppose the request.

Jacobs, a mother of three, is asking to visit her son who is living in Mitchells Plain including to collect her belongings from a residence where she had been a tenant and to sign in at Delft Police Station.

Simon indicated they would be opposing.

Jacobs then jumped in, not following court protocol, saying: “I need to go to the property because since my arrest someone else moved in and I need to get my belongings and I have approached the housing tribunal.”

Magistrate Ndaleni then said he would allow her request to sign in at Delft police station but later retracted it stating police needed to verify the new address.

He also warned Jacobs to adhere to court procedures and postponed the matter to October 28 for the amendment request to be reviewed.

Last week, Jacobs dropped a bombshell when she indicated she would be asking the court to grant her permission to attend a religious excursion in November.

This however was not mentioned again.

Outside court, the baby’s mother Imaan Sharmar said she opposed the application: “I do not know what her plans are or what is trying to do, we are not happy with her request.”

Last week, the state indicated it was waiting for the nature of the cellphone analysis, forensic analysis and witness statements to be completed.

Earlier Sergeant Dawid Fortuin of the Serious and Violent Crimes Kidnapping Unit revealed that they were in possession of vital cellphone records which could prove that Jacobs had allegedly represented herself as three different people, that of herself, Wasiema and Chevon Classen who was a NPO sponsor and volunteer for the Zoey project.
