TRAGIC: Tyler Lamb lost his life in the line of duty

THE suspect accused of killing Metro Police Constable Tyler Lamb to abandon his bail application. The man appeared along two others in the dock at the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court on Monday.
The 30-year-old officer who was part of the newly-deployed Neighbourhood Safety Officers (NSOs) died tragically on 7 November 2025 after chasing a suspect in a shooting incident across a roof following a business robbery.
Lamb fell as a result of a scuffle, and lost consciousness.
Despite the best efforts of EMTs and hospital staff, the officer passed away and is survived by his wife Leveen and their young son.
Following the arrests of three suspects at the weekend, the State charged on man with murder, while three others face charges related to the robbery in addition to the illegal possession of ammunition.
During court proceedings it was revealed that the main accused along with the second accused would not be applying for bail. However, the third accused will be applying for bail.
Safety and Security Portfolio Chairperson, Councillor Mzwakhe Nqavashe, attended the court proceedings alongside the Metro Police officers and said: “We are relieved that the first suspect has abandoned his bail application and we will return to court for the bail application of the third suspect. We will continue our support for the family in these difficult circumstances”.
The matter has been remanded to 17 November.
