'WAAR KRY HULLE GUNS?' - PA councillor wants to know where Cape criminals get their ammunition

CAPE Town residents have had enough of the bloodshed in our communities and while calling on the government to step in to help stop the gun violence, are also asking where these criminals are getting ammunition. 

A march close to Zevenwacht Mall in Kuils River yesterday, saw Patriotic Alliance Public Relations Councillor Wendell Nimmerhout calling out South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa. 

Themed “Coloured Lives Matter”, Nimmerhout said: “The reason why we are here today is to shout that ‘Coloured Lives Matter’, because of all the killings happening in our communities - Eerste River, Kuils River, Wesbank, the Cape Flats, all the killings that is happening. 

“It seems like the government isn’t interested in solving this issue and we want to call on President Cyril Ramaphosa to bring in the army and to stabilise the situation in our communities. 

“That’s the only way, like in the old days, that we can bring about change in our communities. 

“We know the police - some of them are doing a good job - and then here are also some of them who are in cahoots with the criminals.”  

The PA has been driving ‘Coloured Lives Matter’ for a while now, with MP Liam Jacobs also calling on the government to deploy the army to patrol gang-stricken communities.

Jacobs said last month: “Coloured lives matter. When I say 'Coloured lives matter', it does not imply that only Coloured lives matter.

“We are saying that Coloured lives matter too. And it is these Coloured lives that are being lost on a daily basis. 

“They're lost through gun violence, gang violence, every single day. And the very system that is supposed to protect us, is failing.” 

Nimmerhout, though, believes that the big question that should be asked is where the criminals get their guns. 

He added: “The question is, where do they get these guns? They don’t have money, they don’t have the licenses, so where do they get the guns?  

“We know what happened in the past and it is based on that that we are saying that we need to stand up and shout out to the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa to send us the army.”
