THE hele rugby world’s eyes will be on the Mother City on Saturday and Sunday, when Cape Town hosts the Cape Town SVNS event.

The 16 best sevens teams will descend on Cape Town for the annual event, with two days of action-packed rugby, high-class entertainment and more on the schedule.

Apart from Impi Visser and his South African Blitzboks teammates bringing the entertainment on the field, fans can expect the likes of Youngsta CPT, Jimmy Nevis, DJ Alicious vs DJ Chelsea-Sloan, Ben Rodriguez, Majozi, aKing, Loufi, Keanan Eksteen, Die Heuwels Fantasties, Freddy L, PHFat, 2wobunnies and Belgium’s DJ Miro.

Additional activities will include the Streetstylers Dance Crew, SA TikTok creator performances, the Red Bull Love Garden and stunt-bike demonstrations.

With tens of thousands of fans - dressed in their beste kits - expected at the stadium, there will be some heavy traffic in the Mother City.

To ease congestion, spectators can ride the free MyCiTi shuttle from the Civic Centre, Thibault Square and Stadium stations on both days.

Stadium gates open at 9am. The first bus leaves the Civic Centre at 8:30am. Kick-off is at 10am.

The final bus departs the stadium at 9:30pm on Saturday and 7:30pm on Sunday.

Parking is available at the CTICC (paid), the Civic Centre and on-street bays. The City will open 475 parking bays at the Civic Centre from 7:30am on a first-come, first-served basis.

E-hailing drop-offs will be directed to P14 in Green Point Main Road, between York and Wigtown roads.

Cape Town Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis described the event as “one of the funnest weekends of the year” on the Kaapse calendar.

Hill-Lewis said last month: “Few events bring our city to life quite like the sevens…

“Cape Town is proud to host some of the biggest sporting events on the African continent. And the Sevens is always one of my highlights of our whole event year.

“Whether you’re a lifelong rugby fan or just love a wonderful day out in our city with the family, don't miss the sevens.

“Come dressed in your best sevens outfit...”

Ticket prices start at R250 and are available through Ticketmaster.
