Drakenstein Municipality’s Fire and Rescue Services said the fire broke out shortly after midday. Additional support came from Stellenbosch Municipality, Cape Winelands District Municipality, the Fire Protection Association (FPA), and DFW Fire & Rescue NPC.
The Cucina Di Giovanni restaurant and the first wing of the accommodation facilities were destroyed, while crews worked to prevent the flames from reaching the historic Manor House and the second accommodation wing, said the municipality.
The municipality said helicopters deployed by the FPA assisted with aerial water drops, but strong winds made firefighting efforts difficult.
They warned: ''Wind conditions remain strong, but all teams are fully alert and monitoring the area closely to prevent any flare-ups.''

The Manor House and second accommodation wing were successfully protected, said the municipality.
The municipality confirmed that the cause of the fire remains unknown and that an investigation will be conducted once mop-up operations have been completed.
