SHOOTING: Police investigate a murder in Ravensmead

A RAVENSMEAD man was shot and killed yesterday afternoon as police investigated a crime scene in Edgar Bullock Street.
Details were scarce when the Daily Voice enquired about the incident, with the South African Police Service reporting that officers were on an active scene.
Police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala reported: “This office confirms that a 25-year-old male was shot and fatally wounded in Edgar Bullock Street, Ravensmead.
"Ravensmead police are currently on the crime scene. A case of murder has been registered for further investigation. The motive for the shooting is yet to be determined."
In a separate incident, an alleged Wesbank skollie has been arrested after a sting at his house.
Anti-Gang Unit officers raided a home in Framesby Street in the early hours of Wednesday morning and busted a 53-year-old for the illegal of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
Police spokesperson Constable Ndakhe Gwala reported: “On Wednesday 7 January 2026, at approximately 2.10am, members of the Anti-Gang Unit, deployed in Wesbank amidst ongoing gang violence were tracing suspects for murder when they received intelligence about a firearm hidden at an address in Framesby Street.
“Upon arrival, they found a 53-year-old gang affiliated male. A search was conducted which resulted in the discovery of a 9mm pistol with nine rounds of ammunition.
“The suspect was arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and illegal possession of ammunition.
“Once charged, the suspect will make his first appearance in the Blue Downs Magistrate’s Court.”
Meanwhile, Lockdown III members arrested two suspects for possession of dangerous weapons, while conducting random stop and searches in Delft on Tuesday.
Gwala added: “Members searched a 22-year-old male in Amur Street and found a dangerous weapon. “They proceeded to Eindhoven Street where they searched a 35-year-old female and found another dangerous weapon.”
Furthermore, members searched a house in Ebro Street, Delft at around 22:00 and confiscated 25 sachets of tik. A 31-year-old female suspect was arrested for possession of illegal drugs.
The three suspects will appear in the Bellville Magistrate’s court on the mentioned charges.
