Two delivery men managed to escape their robbers after being held up at gunpoint and kidnapped in Wynberg on Thursday.
According to a police source, the men were delivering cigarettes for British American Tobacco (BAT) shortly after 9am and parked their vehicle in Main Road.
They took the entjies to a shop in Lower Church Street, but it was apparently closed.
They were confronted by two men and held up at gunpoint.
“The one suspect had a firearm and they forced them into a Quantum taxi. They drove to the BAT vehicle in Main Road and forced them to drive it to Lower Church Street where they offloaded all the cigarettes into the Quantum and sped off.”
One delivery man jumped out of the vehicle along Rosmead Avenue.
“The second ou jumped out in Hanover Park and both came back to Wynberg to open a case.”
Police spokesman, Captain FC van Wyk, says three suspects have been arrested and will be charged with carjacking and robbery.
